Eileen Truax

Journalist specialising in migration and borders

Specialising in migration, human rights and United States politics, Eileen Truax has developed a career focused on the critical analysis of border regimes, anti-migration policies and the experiences of Latin American migrant communities. Her work combines investigative journalism, political analysis and testimonial storytelling, with particular attention to forms of institutional violence, racial exclusion and the criminalisation of migrants. She is the author of books such as DreamersMexicanos al grito de Trump and El muro que ya existe, in which she documents the social, political and human consequences of contemporary borders. She is currently a consultant on migration narratives for the United Nations Office for Human Rights in Central America and a professor in the Department of Media, Communication and Culture at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
